ONCE THERE WAS

Once there was a woman, who had come to a foreign country, with a man she loved and had just married. She knew no one and had no family in this country.

Once there was a woman, who had tears in her eyes when her vicious mother-in-law told her "well you shouldn't have thrown away your baby" after her miscarriage.

Once there was woman, who lay in a medicated daze on a delivery table and listened as the Dr.s murmered and finally told her "we have to make a decision, its your life or your baby's" and she chose for her baby to live.

Once there was a woman, who lay her newborn infant on her chest, and proudly called her the most beautiful corsage in the world.

Once there was a woman, who took her 2 month old baby and went back to her homeland after her husband hit her so hard he broke her eye glasses.

Once there was a woman, who asked for a tape recorder for Christmas so that she could record her childs first words and so that she could make a testimony to the joys of being a mother.

Once there was a woman, who lived in fear of her husbands rage.

Once there was a woman, who was accused of cheating on her husband, when in reality it was her husband who had cheated on her numerous times to which she chose to turn a blind eye.

Once there was a woman, who looked for ways to make money by making jewelry, crocheting various items, or cleaning homes of old ladies to be able to give her daughter the things her miser of a husband refused to supply.

Once there was a woman, who pretended to live to serve her husband when all she could think of was a way to get her and her daughter out of their hell.

Once there was a woman, who changed her mind about leaving her husband because she wanted her daughter to have a father since she herself grew up without one.

Once there was a woman, who told her husband "I'm a mother before anything else so dont EVER hurt my daughter".

Once there was a woman, who witnessed with pride the fruits of her labor as her daughter collected many accolades and awards upon her graduation from high school.

Once there was a woman, who became very ill and almost died during an emergency surgery. Her lungs collapsed, her heart failed as well as her kidneys.

Once there was a woman, who lay in the intensive care unit, as a record number of 143 visitors came during 3 days.

Once there was a woman, who through the power or prayer, lived despite the prognosis of death.

Once there was a woman, whose husband left her after two years of her being ill despite the many times she had faithfully taken care of him when he was sick.

Once there was a woman, whose only daughter took care of her and never left her side and sacrificed all that she could in order to take care of her.

Once there was a woman, who lay weak in bed after a night of pain and suffering and told her daughter "May God repay you for all you have done for me" to which the daughter replied, "He's already repaid me with a mother like you".

Once there was a woman, who lived four and half years in pain and anguish and suffering and asked "why did this happen to me?" to which her daughter replied "your rewards will be great in heaven".

Once there was a woman, whose husband finally came to his senses and called her crying and apologizing for all the wickedness he had done to her.

Once there was a woman, who forgave her husband for all the pain he had caused her and let him re-enter her life for a brief moment...

Once there was a woman, who finally came to rest after years of pain and suffering on September 26th 2001.
